About DJ BoereDJ BOERE’S PROFILE The talented Patrick was born in March 23 and raised in Mamelodi, better known as Dj Boere in Mamelodi/Pretoria. It was in 1996 when I started honing my DJ’ing talents. “I’ve always had the interest but didn’t quite understand what it entailed, but when 1996 came, my needle started working overtime”. Amongst many other rewards that comes with this art, things about being a DJ is the fact that I can reach people with the music that I play and take them on a journey. “It’s an amazing feeling, and every day is a new day.” And like every other profession, my job also has a number of lows. “I’d probably say the ‘idle stages’ are not cool, and the means not having many gigs. Also, when I’m playing music that people aren’t feeling, because at the end of the day, it’s all about them.” Talking about some of my funniest moments while at a gig, I recall one evening when I was playing, every single person feeling the music, when I suddenly got distracted by this lady who walked past. “I don’t know what happened or how it happened, but my vinyl’s just stopped playing. Everything came to a stand still and all eyes were on me. The girl who was ‘responsible’ for that chaos was also staring at me, wondering what was happening. I was frozen.” Out of the many gigs I played, the young single out playing at the Spiced Gold Party, spinning against DJ Fresh at Jackbudha@Mams in Pretoria. “That was an awesome experience”. I also played with some of the well known DJ’s like Vinni Da Vinci, Black Coffie, Waxxy, Strategy, Dino Bravo, Miggs, Christos, Kanunu, Positive K, Monde, Zinhle etc. I’ve been DJ of the month on YFM June 2003. I’m currently performing at Touch TV, Late touch, Beatsradio and 411(Channel O), slamming some of feel good house tunes.
